A biographer blogs


I've been writing biographies for four decades, and my hair has turned grey - partly as a result! In the last two years I've done my best to set down a historical overview of biography's rich history in the Western world, in all media (Biography: A Brief History) and this year, how you, as a biographer, can go about writing a life (How To Do Biography: A Primer). But there's so much I wasn't able to squeeze into those two slim books - so much I'd like to say about the business of life depiction, as well as some of my thoughts and reflections as a biographer, as I go about my daily work.
